Bakeries
|
It has been said that you don't know Antigua if you haven't tasted its bread. Although not as important as the corn tortilla, bread is an integral part of the daily diet. The bakeries are classified by their specialties, which vary from place to place. You can choose between the daily bread, available in several varieties and shapes, to those enriched with sugar and other spices such as anise. This type of bread is sold in neighborhood bakeries, the most famous being listed on one of our tours ( Panadería San Antonio). If you want to taste an international flavor with an Antiguan touch, try the bakery of Doña Luisa de Xicotencatl, where you can buy bagels, whole wheat bread, or specialty breads such as raisin, banana, olive, or potato. |
